Chipego
On Tuesday the team met Chipego (her name means Gift in the local language). She was born with Spinal Bifida. Now 8 years old, she wears a diaper made out of a plastic grocery bag filled with cotton wool. Her struggles have been daily, but today from across the globe our team from the different Mobility Worldwide chapters personally made and shipped a child sized and colorfully painted mobility cart from the states to be here just for her! She was so excited, she was placed in the seat and took off like she had always ridden it! As she left the gate she drove off down the road without waiting for her mother…nothing could stop her, freedom has arrived in this unmeasurable gift of Mobility!

This is Gladys, she is 47 years old and lives in Sawmills compound, one of the most impoverished and crime ridden areas in Livingstone. A few years back she suddenly lost her ability to walk. Doctors can’t explain. Now she sits outside her door each day and watches life go by.
Upon arrival, Gladys lit up with joy and laughter. She knew her hopeless situation was about to change. We helped her onto her new Mobility Cart and she was eager to venture out of her yard. She drove down her road laughing while onlookers watched amazed at the new mobility the lady they always see sitting at her door had found.
